ICanServe Foundation’s Ating Dibdibin partner, the City Government of Tagum, Davao del Norte, launched its Service Caravan for Tagumenyos at Tagum National Trade School in Brgy. Apokon, Tagum City, on July 2, 2023. Under the leadership of Mayor Rey Uy, the event kicked-off its “Project Caring for Others,” which aims to bring government services closer to the people by visiting each of the city’s 23 barangays. The program provides free breast examinations, as well as cervical cancer screening and other health services.

Tagum City institutionalized Ating Dibdibin, ICanServe’s flagship community-based breast cancer control program, via city ordinance on October 28, 2020. Breast cancer patient support group Living Hope, Rotary Club of Tagum North, Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, and Davao Regional Hospital all played a part in making the ordinance possible.

Ating Dibdibin is co-created with local government as part of its initiative to promote early breast cancer detection, access to accurate diagnosis and timely treatment, survivorship care, palliative care, hospice care, and patient navigation. Tagum’s Ating Dibdibin covers two programs: the Breast Cancer Care and Control Program, and the Medical Assistance Program for Breast Cancer Patients.
